I declare shenanigans. There are five bids so far on that auction. All five are by the same bidder. I don't know why the current bid keeps rising if there is only one bidder, but what ever is going on it is fishy.

ETA:

Check out this auction that has already ended. One ounce Ag bar went for over $100. I have one of these, but I paid about a quarter over spot. I don't know what was so special about this bar.

In the description it says it has been in his safe deposit box for 25 years. Yet the round is dated 1985 - 22 years ago.

For $75 there would be about four ounces of silver missing!

It is simply not credible these bids are authentic.

no comment on why the buyer wanted it for $75 but the price kept going up because the reserve was set at $75. His first 4 bids were below the reserve. Once the buyer bid at or higher than the reserve the price jumped to that level ($75).

This is a 1 oz 999 fine silver coin. Dated 1985. One side says "American Double Eagle American Mint" and the other side says "Liberty 1985". Excellent condition - has been in a safe deposit box for over 25 years. I accept PayPal only for this item. I ship all my items US Priority and air or ground for international buyers. If you happen to purchase more than one of my items, I will be happy to double up on shipping to save you postage. Any questions feel free to ask.

Hmmm.....let's do some simple math, shall we? 1985(date on coin) + 25 (supposed minimum number of years in a safety deposit box) = 2010. Holy crap! That's why this coin went for so damned much. It's from the future!!!

There is nothing like an auction to turn otherwise sensible people into idiots, or crap into rare treasures.

Well. the guy who bought it seems to enjoy overpaying for silver. I checked his feedback and saw he didn't have a problem paying 15.00-16.00 for half ounces of silver as well. But 5 bids on the same coin up to $75.00 seems really weird to me.

I think the auction I won today was a better deal than that guy is getting. That fellow's bid of $75 can't be for real!
:confused_ma: Here's the auction I won today...I was the only bidder. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=006&sspagename=STRK%3AME WN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=160097500331&rd=1&rd=1
